DEHRADUN: Uttarakhand BJP would launch its “Vijay Sankalp Yatra” ahead of the 2022 state assembly election from Haridwar on Saturday. During the yatra, the party will go among the public to inform them about the development works done by it in the state.

BJP state president Madan Kaushik, during a press conference in Dehradun on Friday, said the party will “seek blessings of the public for the upcoming election while informing them about the development works carried out in the state with the help of the central government.”

“The first phase of the yatra which will be in the Garhwal division will start on Saturday in Haridwar. It will be launched by BJP national president JP Nadda in presence of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. The launch will be followed by a road show by Nadda in Haridwar,” said Kaushik.

On the yatra’s second phase, he said it will be launched in Bageshwar district of Kumaon division. “It will be launched by union minister of information and broadcasting Anurag Thakur in presence of Dhami and me on December 19. The Yatra will cover a distance of about 4,500 km, including 2,660 km in Garhwal and 1,890 km in Kumaon,” he said.

The BJP state president further said during the yatra, the party will go among the public through public meetings and other events to inform them about the development works carried by the BJP government.

“During the ongoing tenure, our government employment to over 8 lakh people. Apart from this, significant works have been done in education, health and rail and road connectivity. Various welfare works have also been done for the servicemen and their families, and women in the state. We will inform the public about all these works and the failures of the previous Congress led state governments,” said Kaushik. Kaushik, while expressing confidence of winning the upcoming polls, said the state government was able to carry various developmental works “with the help of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led central government.”

“These works include the restoration works in Kedarnath and Badrinath shrines as well the development of various tourist spots. We had also made Gairsain the summer capital of Uttarakhand as promised by us in our manifesto of 2017 elections. Our government also successfully managed the Covid-19 pandemic and inoculated a the elegible population with the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine,” said Kaushik adding that “The Yatra would be joined by different senior party leaders including Union home minister Amit Shah and others on various occasions.”

Addressing the press conference, he also accused the Opposition parties including Congress of “misleading the public with false promises.”

“The party is just misleading the people of state with false promises as the elections are nearing. However, they will not succeed in doing so as the people of Uttarakhand are smart and know that only BJP can work for the holistic development of the state and nobody else,” he said.

Earlier during the day, he also flagged off 70 vehicles fitted with LED screens to go among the public and display the development works done by the government. The vehicles also include suggestion box to receive suggestions from the people “which will be included in party’s vision document.”

The Congress said the BJP will lose the upcoming polls “no matter which yatra they launch.”

“They did nothing in the last five years of its tenure except changing three CMs. Unemployment, price rise are skyrocketing with no relief provided by this government.

“People are waiting to teach BJP a lesson in 2022 polls in which Congress will win,” said Congress national general secretary Harish Rawat.
