Nadda seeks report of all Garhwal seats in 15 days

The BJP president receives report card of all ministers, MLAs from chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami

DEHRADUN : BJP national president JP Nadda, during his oneday visit to Dehradun on Sunday, directed party leaders to submit a report of all 41 assembly seats in Garhwal region within 15 days while asking party workers to focus on booths ahead of the ensuing state assembly polls.

During the visit, Nadda held meetings with district presidents, assembly seat in charges and convenors of all the 41 seats to know party’s current situation.

He also held one-to-one meetings with party senior leaders, including chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, state unit president Madan Kaushik, general secretary (organisati­on) Ajaey Kumar, former union minister and Haridwar MP Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and former CM Trivendra Singh Rawat.

One of the party leaders of general secretary level said the national president’s visit was an “important one ahead of the election as he gave many vital instructio­ns to the state unit on chalking out strategy”.

“During the visit, he first held the leaders responsibl­e for each of the 41 seats. He took feedback from them to know the party’s strengths and weaknesses in each of the seats. He also held meeting with workers of all those seats during which he asked them to focus on managing the booths by giving a mantra of Booth Jeeta to Chunav Jeeta (If you win booths then you will win election),” said the leader. He said, “Under the same mantra, he directed the workers to emphasise on key voters on each booth who can influence other voters of the area. That would help to gain more support in those booths.”The leader also informed that during the closed door meeting with Dhami, Nadda received the “report card of all the ministers and party MLAs”.“At the government level, the CM gave him the report cards of his ministers and all the party MLAs. The two also had discussion­s on very strong, strong and less strong seats for the party in Garhwal so as to chalk out strategy for each of the seats accordingl­y,” said leader.

Another senior party leader, while sharing details about the meeting, said Nadda enquired about the strategy of the Congress and other opposition parties. “He discussed the strategy of the Congress and other parties in the 41 seats on the basis of which he gave required directions to the state unit to counter them,” said the leader.

BJP state president Kaushik said, “Our national president’s visit was completely an organisati­onal one with the focus on upcoming election. It was a very productive one as he gave many valuable directions to make a strong strategy for all the 41 seats in Garhwal division. His next visit which will soon be finalized and it will focus on seats in Kumaon division. As per his directions, party workers will focus on booth management.”

Political analyst MM Semwal on Nadda’s directions to the BJP state unit said, “It is no surprise as BJP takes every election very seriously.

“It also has a strong organisati­onal structure which has been focusing on booth management. In Uttarakhan­d too, he has asked

the state unit to do the same. Following his visit, the BJP is set to move more aggressive­ly in its campaign for upcoming polls.”
