NCR RECORDS OVER 118% RISE IN PARCEL, LUGGAGE EARNINGS BY Q3 END

PRAYAGRAJ : North Central Railways (NCR) has registered 118.3% increase in terms of parcel and luggage earnings by the end of third quarter of financial year (December 2021), said officials.

“As a result of adoption of aggressive marketing strategies and customer centric approaches, NCR earned Rs 21.11 crore during April-December from parcel and luggage earnings. This is a 118.3% growth as compared to parcel and luggage earning of Rs 9.67 crore during the correspond­ing period previous year,” said chief public relation officer (CPRO), NCR, Shivam Sharma.

In December 2021 itself, NCR earned Rs 3.15 crore from parcel and luggage which is 43.8% more than that of Rs 2.19 crore earning under this head in December 2020, he added.

The official further said business developmen­t units (BDUs) at zonal and divisional levels were putting efforts to increase parcel traffic through non-lease indented parcel van. A total of 189 non-indented parcel vans have been loaded with an earning of Rs 1.94 crore during AprilDecem­ber whereas only 108 non-indented parcel vans could have been loaded during the correspond­ing period of previous year. In addition to this, attempts are also being made to get lease SLR/parcel vans on trains by issuing notices inviting tenders, said Sharma.

Further, Kisan rails being run by NCR were not only serving small farmers by helping them transport their produce to markets but also contributi­ng towards parcel earnings of NCR.

Division-wise details of parcel and luggage earnings during (April-Dec 2021-22) include Rs 9.90 crore of Prayagraj.
