AAP in strong position in 50 seats: Sisodia
HARIDWAR: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia on Thursday said his party is in strong competitive position in 50 assembly seats in the state that goes to the polls on February 14.
The AAP was in direct electoral contest with the BJP and Congress in the state, Sisodia told reporters here.
“The AAP is in strong competitive position in around 50 assembly segments and ready to surprise the poll pundits and other parties. We are getting overwhelming response in the state from people which I saw during my visits to Uttarkashi, Dehradun and Tehri Garhwal,” said Sisodia.
Seeking support from the seer community, Sisodia met spiritual ideologue Jagadguru Shankaracharya Rajrajeshwaram Maharaj here on the second day of his visit to Uttarakhand.
He reiterated pre-poll promise of AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal of making Uttarakhand a spiritual capital.
Seeking blessing from Maharaj and Bharat Mata temple spiritual guru Mahant Lalitanand Giri Maharaj for the party’s electoral success, Sisodia apprised the seers about the development projects and achievements of the AAP government in Delhi.
The AAP leader also claimed that his party will emerge victorious in assembly polls in Punjab and Goa, where elections are also scheduled in February.
Asked, BJP Haridwar district president Jaypal Singh Chauhan said there was no direct contest or competition between the BJP and AAP.
“Neither the Congress nor AAP, which is contesting for the first time in Uttarakhand, pose any serious challenge to the BJP. Our target of 60 plus is very much viable. So for rest of the seats, there may be a competition among other parties,” said Chauhan.
Earlier in the day, Sisodia held a door-to-door campaigning in Kichha assembly segment in US Nagar district.
