Rajju Bhaiya Univ to start PhD in 11 colleges from 2022-23 session

PRAYAGRAJ : Eleven colleges affiliated to Prof Rajendra Singh (Rajju Bhaiya) University (PRSU), Prayagraj, located in Prayagraj, Kaushambi, Fatehpur and Pratapgarh districts will start PhD programmes in 18 subjects from 2022-23 session, say varsity officials in the know about it.

The university had sought applicatio­ns from the colleges for setting up research centres on their respective premises. Following it, now PhD programmes will start in Prayagraj’s Government PG College Saidabad and Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna College in Naini. Permission has been sought by the colleges for starting PhD courses in 20 subjects.

“The university administra­tion has constitute­d an inspection committee to visit and look at the available resources in all these colleges. On the basis of the report and recommenda­tions of this committee, the university will give permission to the colleges to start doctoral research programmes,” said PRSU vice chancellor Prof Akhilesh Kumar Singh. He said it was expected that after deciding the number of seats to start PhD courses in these colleges, a notificati­on would be issued for admission applicatio­ns in May.

The 11 colleges that have applied for starting the PhD programmes beside Prayagraj’s Government PG College-Saidabad and Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Government College-Naini include Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Government College of Lalganj in Pratapgarh, Madan Mohan Malviya PG College in Kala Kankar, Pratapgarh, MD PG College of Pratapgarh, PG College-Patti in Pratapgarh, PB College of Pratapgarh besides Government Women’s PG College, Mahatma Gandhi PG College, Ambedkar Girls PG College of Fatehpur and Swami K Maharaj PG College of Kaushambi.

The PRSU vice chancellor said the PhD courses would be started in 10 post graduate courses already being conducted on the campuses, including Hindi, Sanskrit, Ancient History, Geography, Sociology, Economics, Political Science, Philosophy, Defence Studies and Commerce besides eight new courses that include Zoology, Botany, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematic­s, Education, Home Science and English. The university, formerly known as Allahabad State University, is among the newest universiti­es of UP set up in 2016. The university has a total of 651 colleges affiliated to it.
