LUCKNOW: Opposition parties have hit out at the BJP government over the Union budget with both the top regional parties in the state--Samajwadi Party (SP) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) launching scathing attacks.

Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav, in a tweet in Hindi, said: “Works and business ruined...the historic economic slowdown gobbled jobs of lakhs of people...income of general public reduced...and the people forced to exhaust all their savings and bank funds in joblessness and diseases...and now here we have a BJP budget to ‘pickpocket’ people...the end of the sad era of BJP in UP has begun...UP kahey aaj, nahin chahiye BhaJaPa (Today UP says, don’t want the BJP).”

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati said the Union budget has been brought to “woo the public with new promises” and alleged that the Centre has forgotten to implement its old announcements. In a series of tweets in Hindi, Mayawati said, “The Union budget presented in Parliament today has been brought to woo the public with new promises, while the implementation of the past promises and old announcements have been forgotten... Why is the Centre free from worries of poverty, unemployment, inflation and suicides by farmers? The central government is patting its back. The tax burden has made the life of the people miserable,” she said. Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) said that the budget ignored the common man and farmers. “The Budget has nothing for the common man, farmers, middle class, salaried class as well as youth,” RLD spokesman Anil Dubey said in a statement.
