AU finalises list of 75 Indian, foreign faculties
PRAYAGRAJ : As part of efforts to improve its ranking among institutions of higher learning and central universities, the Allahabad University (AU) has decided to rope in support of faculty members of reputed institutions of the country and abroad to improve the quality of teaching and research on its campus.
For the purpose, the AU administration has prepared a list of 75 academicians who would be supporting 18 departments of this over 135-year-old institution. This is the first time that the AU has decided to undertake such an initiative, trying to make a global mark in the quality of education. Vice chancellor, Allahabad University, prof Sangeeta Srivastava has given her approval to the decision, said the AU officials in the know about the development.
Public relations officer (PRO), AU, prof Jaya Kapoor said, “These academicians will give lectures in virtual mode to the students of undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The initiative would also help the university get global recognition for research work on its campus”.
After the permission of UGC, a list of academicians of reputed institutes of the country has been prepared. Apart from retired faculty members of AU, reputed teachers from Delhi University, University of Manchester, UK, Pennsylvania State University of the USA, IIT-Kharagpur
and National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences, Bengaluru have been roped in.
Besides, reputed teachers of Berhampur University of Odisha, Kalyani University of West Bengal, Aarhus University of Denmark, Hubei Polytechnic University of China, Indian Institute of Food Processing Technology, Tamil Nadu, Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai, Banaras Hindu University, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Jiwaji University, Gwalior, University of Maryland, USA, Long School of Medicine and School at San Antonio, Texas of Dentistry, UT Health, IIT Kanpur, IIT Guwahati, Nordic Institute of Asian Studies, Denmark, Park University in UK, Tübingen University, Germany, Panjab University, University of Kolkata, France, Belgium, Uzbekistan, Assam, Scotland and Japan will also give their support.
These educationists will teach students of the 18 departments of AU in an online mode for the next two years.
