V-C VISITS BHU’S SOUTH CAMPUS IN MIRZAPUR, INSPECTS DEV WORKS
VARANASI: Vice-chancellor of the Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Prof Sudhir K Jain, on Sunday visited the BHU’s South Campus located at Barkachha in Mirzapur where he took stock of various developmental works and educational programmes.
It was Prof Jain’s first visit to the south campus since assuming charge as the V-C on January 7, 2022.
He was accompanied by rector Prof VK Shukla, in-charge of south campus, Prof V K Mishra, director of various institutes under BHU, deans of faculties, senior officers and faculty members.
The vice-chancellor interacted with faculty members and staff of the south campus. Prof Mishra briefed the V-C about various courses, student strength, facilities for students and staff, academic high points and other strengths of the campus.
“The campus is self-reliant to meet its water requirements by using rain water harvesting. There are plans to use the vast area of land to grow lemon grass and other medicinal plants which may generate revenues,” he informed.
Faculty members also told Prof Jain about different vocational courses being run by the institute.
During the interaction, the vice-chancellor called upon the faculty and staff of the south campus to work not just as a team but also as a family to make the institution excel in all spheres.
He said, “The best possible efforts will be made to ensure that students get all that they require while studying on the campus, be it hostels, medical facilities or internet.”
The vice-chancellor said, “The BHU has to be proactive in playing its social part as people in general look up to us.”
He underlined the need to put greater focus on skill development and capacity building courses for local population.
