SBSP CHIEF HAD SAID THAT MUKHTAR WOULD REACH THE ASSEMBLY BY WINNING THE ELECTION ONCE AGAIN

VARANASI : Gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari, who is lodged in Banda jail, will contest the 2022 UP assembly polls from Sadar seat of Mau district, claimed Mukhtar’s lawyer Daroga Singh. Singh further claimed that Ansari will contest polls on the symbol of Om Prakash Rajbhar-led Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP).

Indicating that Mukhtar Ansari would most likely contest from Mau Sadar seat as an SBSP candidate, SBSP chief Om Prakash Rajbhar had said In Varanasi two days ago that Mukhtar would reach the assembly by winning the election once again. “No power can stop him (Mukhtar) from winning election,” Rajbhar had claimed. Meanwhile, SBSP spokesperson Shashi Pratap Singh said party president Om Prakash Rajbhar will formally announce its candidate on the seat in the next two days. The SBSP is an ally of the Samajwadi Party (SP).

On the other hand, Mukhtar’s lawyer Daroga Singh claimed that he had bought two sets of nomination papers for his client. He said a plea was submitted before the special judge MP/ MLA court, Mau, on Tuesday, urging the court to allow Mukhtar’s lawyer, proposers, a notary advocate and a photographer to meet him (Mukhtar) in Banda jail to take his signature and complete other formalities for filing his nomination. He also said all necessary documents and SBSP symbol “Chhari” (walking stick) had been attached with the plea.

Singh claimed that the court heard the plea and on Thursday granted them permission to meet Mukhtar in jail for completing the formalities of nomination. Mukhtar, a sitting Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MLA from Mau’s Sadar seat, was first elected from there in 1996 on a BSP ticket. In 2002 and 2007, Ansari contested as an independent candidate from the seat and emerged victorious. In 2012, he contested as a member of the Quami Ekta Dal and won. This time, the BSP has fielded its state president Bhim Rajbhar from Mau’s Sadar seat. Madhavendra Bahadur Singh is in the fray as the Congress candidate.
