Seers start foot march to Delhi, demand withdrawal of cases

HARIDWAR: A group of seers associated with Dharma Sansad started a foot march on Sunday from Haridwar to Delhi to pressing their the demand for the release of Jitendra Narayan Tyagi (formerly Wasim Rizvi) who is in jail after his arrest in the hate speech case.

The have plans to stage a protest at Rajghat in the second week of March seeking withdrawal of hate speech cases, the seers said.

Led by Yogi Gyannath and Mahamandal­eshwar of Shri Panchdashn­am Juna Akhada Swami Yati Narsinghan­and, seers said that they will start an indefinite agitation adjacent Gandhi statue at Gandhi Samadhi in Delhi next month.

After performing Maa Baghalmukh­i yagna at Sarvanand Ganga Ghat, seers started their on foot journey for Delhi.

Seers said that this is a symbolic foot march and they will stage protest at Gandhi Samadhi for withdrawal of legal cases lodged against Tyagi, former Uttar Pradesh Shia Waqf Board chairperso­n, and other saints in Dharma Sansad row.

“We will also highlight the plight of Hindus and threat of Islami jihadi extremism through our protest.

As we fear violence and threat to participat­ing people we have not allowed citizens and activists to be part of the foot march and agitation .Only seers are taking part as we don’t want non-seers to be targeted or framed in legal cases,” said Yati Narsinghan­and.

“Ours is a non-violent mode of agitation. Seers has a major role to play in safeguardi­ng interests of Sanatan Dharma and potent threat to it from extremists and those for sake of vote bank politics are silent over seers being targeted and framed legally,” said Swami Amritanand.
