LUCKNOW: Chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of Railway Board, Vinay Kumar Tripathi on Saturday said, Indian Railways is going through a change and its officers and employees also need to transform their working style to make Indian Railways the best institution.

Speaking in the safety review meeting held at North Eastern Railways (NER) headquarters, Gorakhpur, Tripathi said, “The Indian Railways has a very strong system as well as resources and capable personnel. There is a need to make Railways safer and faster. Due to Covid-19 pandemic, the pace of work had slowed down in the last two years. However, with the second Covid wave under control, now the works should be done twice as fast.”

“There is a need to analyze the safety related failures and find the primary reasons and rectify them. The officers should keep the safety drive in progress. The deficiencies found during the drive should be rectified sincerely,” he said.

Tripathi appealed to all the railway officers and employees to treat the Railways as their family and take care of it accordingly. “Let us work in the manner - what we have given to the Railways rather than what the Railways has given to us. Because whatever we are today is because of Railways and our identity is because of it. The safe rail transport, honesty and integrity should be the top priorities of Indian Railways,” he added.

General manager, NER, Anupam Sharma said, thorough field inspection was conducted by all the officers during the mega safety drive. The shortcomings found during this period were being rectified with making an action plan, he said.

Principal chief safety officer (NER) Chandan Adhikari, made a power point presentation, highlighting the deficiencies found during the mega safety drive and its compliance, future road map and safety action plan.
