Police to ready lists of new and top 10 criminals
PRAYAGRAJ: Prayagraj police will prepare a fresh list of criminals along with separate new list of top ten criminals at each police station. The list of top ten criminals will also include names of new criminals.
The list is being made on the instructions of senior superintendent of police, Prayagraj Ajay Kumar. As per new initiative, police will identify those who are active in their areas since past two years. Moreover, list of top ten criminals will include names of those who have committed serious crimes but were not in the list yet, said police.
Kumar said that necessary instructions were issued after anomalies were found in maintaining records of criminals. “Instructions have been given to maintain separate register for new criminals in a bid to control incidents of crimes,” he said.
Kumar said after inspecting different police stations and scanning records and registers, he found that existing list had names of old criminals but many names of new criminals were missing. Details of action taken against these new criminals were also missing. Subsequently, Kumar directed SHOs of all police stations to prepare fresh list of criminals active since past two years.
The record would also include the crimes committed and their role in that crime along with the source of income of the criminal. “Instructions have been issued that if a criminal was running a gang, then names of all gang members should be mentioned in register,” the SSP said. “Details about criminals active since last two years have to be collected and if they are still active, then action should be taken against them. But, if they are inactive or rehabilitated, then their names should be mentioned in a separate register,” he added.
