Female tiger rescued from Etah village
AGRA : An adult female Bengal tiger was successfully rescued from Nagla Samal village in Etah district after an 8-hour long joint rescue operation by the Wildlife SOS, Agra and the UP Forest Department. At present, the tigress is under medical observation at Etawah Safari.
On Sunday, panic spread in Nagla Samal village after residents spotted a tigress sitting atop cattle shed in a residential area. Concerned over their safety, the villagers immediately contacted the UP forest department who then called in Wildlife SOS and officers at
Etawah Safari for reinforcements.
According to forest department officials, a 7-member team from the Wildlife SOS Rapid Response Unit led by
Deputy Director, veterinary services, Dr Ilayaraja Selvaraj was immediately dispatched from Agra to assist in the rescue operation.
The team found that the tiger had made its way inside the cattle shed through a gap in the tin roof.
The rescue team immediately secured every corner of the shed and set up a safety net at the main exit point.
The tiger was swiftly immobilized using a sedative injection. Following all safety protocols, the tiger was carefully shifted into a transportation cage.
A medical examination revealed that the tigress had sustained a minor injury on her tail.
Once stabilised and given the on-site necessary treatment, the tigress was transported to Etawah Safari for further treatment.
