PRAYAGRAJ: To ensure peace during festivals of Holi and Shab-e-Barat, Prayagraj police have released two motivational videos on WhatsApp and twitter.

Through these videos, SSP Prayagraj Ajay Kumar has appealed to residents to maintain peace and take care of each other’s religious sentiments.

Meetings of peace committees are being held at all police stations in the district where members of peace committees, local elders and religious heads are being requested to communicate with their community members and urge them to maintain peace and cooperate with administration in maintaining law and order. Police have requested people to immediately inform them in case of any dispute or untoward situation.

Circle officers and SHOs are taking meetings of people in different areas. Police officials said that special teams have been constituted to keep an eye on sensitive areas of the district, on anti-social elements and suspicious persons.

“Besides cops in plain clothes, drones will also be used to keep an eye during the festival. Along with police personnel, PAC and RAF would be deployed in sensitive areas of old city,” said police.

Moreover, special teams of cops are keeping strict watch on social media to stop spread of rumours and any misinformation which may pose threat to peace during Holi and Shab-ebarat, officials said.

Meanwhile, SSP Ajay Kumar and SP City Dinesh Kumar Singh held a meeting with religious heads, vyapar mandal and prominent persons at police lines on Monday. “Holi is a challenging festival and it is the duty of every citizen to respect religious sentiments. People should not believe on rumours but immediately report them to police. People of Prayagraj should ensure that the name of their area and their city is not defamed due to any untoward incident. Police officials come and go but people of Prayagraj should make efforts to earn and maintain good name for their city” SSP Ajay Kumar said.

SSP urged people not to take seriously if anyone passes comments in an inebriated state. Such persons should be handed over to police. Moreover, people should not play loud music on DJs and try to display influence over others, he requested.
