Water supply in Asiad village erratic, complain residents
NEW DELHI: Several residents of Asiad village on Monday said there is irregular water supply in several blocks of the neighbourhood for the last three months.
Dr Ravi Bhutani, secretary of the residents’ welfare association (RWA) said that they have approached the authorities on several occasions but to no avail. “The water supply goes on and off in several blocks. Sometimes it is not available for one day and sometimes for several days. Around 200 people in the neighbourhood are affected, especially those living in houses located at the tail-end of the supply lines,” Bhutani said.
Satender Singh Rawat, another RWA official, said the largest number of complaints is from Chandgi Ram block, KP Thacker block, Sachin Nag, Padam Bahadur Mall and Maruti Mane block. “Some houses have borewells so the residents do not complain, but the problem is particularly stark in five blocks,” Rawat said.
Some residents have also complained about the lack of responsiveness from the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) on social media.
Amit Aggarwal, a resident of Sachin Nag block, said that he has been living in the area for the last four years, but the water supply issues started from November last year. “We are forced to rely on water tankers. The situation is even worse in nearby KP Thacker block where a water tanker comes almost every other day,” Aggarwal said.
A senior DJB official said that the problem is not from the water utility’s side and more details are being sought. “We are taking up the matter immediately,” the official said.
