2 SIS SUSPENDED FOR ASSAULTING AU STUDENT
PRAYAGRAJ : SSP of Prayagraj Ajay Kumar has suspended two sub-inspectors for allegedly thrashing a student in BA final year of Allahabad University. It is alleged that the student was taken to the Naka Police outpost under Colonelganj police station and assaulted with a plastic cane by cops who started questioning him regarding a suspect on Saturday.
A large number of students staged a protest at Colonelganj police station on Saturday late evening demanding action against the two cops.
They later reached outside SSP’s residence and raised slogans following which immediate action was taken by the senior official. On the basis of preliminary investigations, the two subinspectors involved in the incident have been suspended and departmental action will also be initiated against them. Strict action will be taken against the guilty on the basis of further investigations, SSP Ajay Kumar said. According to reports, hailing from the Raniganj area of Pratapgarh, Sarvesh Yadav is a BA final year student and lives on rent in the Beli area.
Sarvesh informed that on Saturday, he and his friend Shravan Kumar came out of Central Library and were going towards their class. However, Shravan Kumar fled when he saw the University Road police outpost in charge Harshveer Singh and Naka Police outpost in-charge Sohrab Alam. The two cops then caught Sarvesh. He while showing his bruises and alleged that the two SIs thrashed him with plastic canes and belts. Local students reached the outpost after hearing his cries of Sarvesh following which he was taken to the police station.
