Hulasnagar RoB gives respite to commuters

-

LUCKNOW : Long traffic jams will no longer haunt the commuters on the Delhi-Lucknow highway near Hulasnagar crossing, thanks to the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) that eventually completed the construction work of the muchawaited over bridge on this crossing and made it open for the public on Tuesday.

NHAI officials said the over bridge would be a boon in streamlining the traffic between Bareilly and Shajahanpur and at the same till it would curtail the journeying time between Lucknow and Delhi. The second lane of the bridge, however would be operational by May 15, the NHAI officials said.

The partial completion of the bridge also brought relief to the locals, who hailed the NHAI’s constant efforts that eventually led to the construction of the over bridge.

The traffic jam on Hulasnagar crossing was one of the main hurdles before the commuters on the Lucknow-Delhi highway, who often had to waste minimum 2 to 3 hours at the crossing. Officials said that around two years back, the work for the construction of the over bridge was awarded to a company, but the company got blacklisted, following which the construction work got stuck. However, following the constant efforts of NHAI, the construction work eventually got completed. Amit Ranjan, project director, NHAI said the finishing work of the over bridge got recently completed after which the traffic movement on one lane of the bridge had been started. He said efforts would be made to complete the construction work of the second lane of the bridge as well.
