PRAYAGRAJ: A male trainee IPS officer posed as a woman on a social media site and traced the location of a man who had abducted a minor girl from Ghoorpur area. A team of Prayagraj police went to Mumbai and arrested the accused and rescued the girl from his clutches. The accused was sent to jail on Wednesday, police said.

One Surjeet abducted a minor girl from Ghoorpur area some days back. Despite making all efforts, police failed to trace his location. Raids were also carried out at his relatives’ house but to no avail. Meanwhile, Chirag Jain, an IPS officer under training, who has been given charge of Ghoorpur police station, learnt that Surjeet was active on Facebook.

Jain created a fake profile of a woman with the name of Komal and sent friend request to Surjeet. The abductor accepted the friend request and started chatting with the officer who was posing as a woman. During the chat, the officer managed to convince Surjeet to send videos of his location and even got his new mobile number. “Through the videos, police learned that the abductor was in the Navi Mumbai area. Through mobile surveillance police teams got his pin point location. A team of Ghoorpur police reached Mumbai and raided the spot from where Surjeet was arrested and the girl was also rescued from him” Jain said.
