Minor named in list of people liable to disrupt peace, SDM directs removal

HARIDWAR: A 11-year-old boy’s name featured along with 32 people who were identified by police, as a preventive measure, and were asked to furnish a personal bond at the sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) court in Bhagwanpur to ensure the maintenanc­e of peace in the riot-affected Dada Jalalpur village in Roorkee area of Haridwar district.

Owing to the threat perception, the local police had identified the said people liable to disrupt peace in Dada Jalalpur village, where on Wednesday Hindu Mahapancha­yat was scheduled to be convened.

As the matter came to light of a minor being named in the list for possible breach of peace in the riot-affected village, parents of the boy and senior villagers apprised the administra­tive officials about the matter.

Taking cognisance of the matter, Bhagwanpur sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Brijesh Tiwari directed the officials concerned to remove the name of the 11-year-old boy from the list.

As local administra­tion had imposed Section 144 CrPC in the five-km radius of Dadà Jalalpur village, no assembly or gathering was allowed. A Bhagwanpur police station officer on the condition of anonymity said that the minor’s name got included in the list probably in haste or due to typing error and the person involved will be identified soon and dealt with according to the law.
