‘Will improve farm sector in Champawat
DEHRADUN: Chief minister (CM) Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday promised the residents a developed Champawat in terms of improvement in sectors like agriculture and horticulture.
The CM, who was holding a roadshow in in Champawat assembly constituency, from where he will be contesting the by-poll, expressed gratitude to the local residents for participating in the meeting.
On April 21, BJP MLA from Champawat, Kailash Gahtori had tendered his resignation to the legislative assembly speaker Ritu Khanduri.
Gahtori had vacated his seat for CM to contest from Champawat seat. Dhami needs to be a member of the state assembly within six months to continue his tenure as the CM. Dhami had lost election from Khatima in US Nagar, his own home turf to Congress’s Bhuwan Kapri.
During the rally, Dhami said that Champawat would be developed for improved tea cultivation and for agriculture, horticulture sectors.
“In the coming time, Champawat district will establish new dimensions of development. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a special attachment to Uttarakhand. Under his guidance, many public welfare schemes are being run in the state. Under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, 60 lakh people are being given free ration in the state,” he said.
Dhami also talked about establishing a satellite centre of AIIMS. The centre will be set up at a distance of just one-and-a half hour from Champawat. “The government has approved ₹29 crore for the survey of Tanakpur-Bageshwar railway line. With the construction of Khatima bypass, the travel time for the people of Champawat and Pithoragarh will also be reduced and they can commute in a smooth way,” he said.
Talking about the uniform civil code (UCC), the chief minister said that a draft would be soon prepared for the implementation of the UCC in the state soon.
