VARANASI : Deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya has said that an example of social and communal harmony is being set in Uttar Pradesh.

“The way in which thousands of loudspeakers were removed (from religious places across UP) without any dispute and with mutual consent is a living example of strong law and order situation in UP,” Maurya said while addressing the concluding session of the three-day training camp of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Varanasi city unit on Monday.

“In the world’s largest democracy, we are not acting as rulers but as servants of the people and will continue to do so,” Maurya said. He said organisation and government are like two wheels of a chariot.

Maurya said now India’s role had become very important at the global level. “In Prime Minister Modi, we have got such a leader on whom the trust of not only people of India but of the entire world has increased,” he said. Showing humanity during the pandemic, India provided medicines as well as vaccines to many countries. During the Russia-Ukraine war, the dignity of the Indian Tricolour became so high that neither Russian nor Ukrainian soldiers harmed any student walking with a Tricolour in their hands, the deputy CM said. “PM Modi has the blessings of Baba Vishwanath and Ganga Ma due to which he can turn every situation in his favour even in the most difficult situations,” he said.

He expressed grief over Chandauli incident in which a young woman died due to alleged police thrashing on Sunday. “This is a very sad incident. The SHO of the concerned police station has been suspended. Strict action would be taken against whoever is found guilty,” he said.
