KIUG participan­ts to receive ODOP kits

GORAKHPUR The participan­ts of the third edition of the Khelo Indian University Games (KIUG) will be felicitate­d with one district one product (ODOP) kit. The mega sports event will be used as an opportunit­y to promote ‘vocal for local’, informed officials from the chief minister camp office.

They further said that this year, the rowing championsh­ip will debut in KIUG and will be held at the Gorakhpur water complex.

Uttar Pradesh is hosting most sports events of this edition in four districts including, Gorakhpur, Lucknow, Gautam Buddha Nagar and Varanasi, where the closing ceremony will be held. The event that started in Lucknow on May 25 will conclude on May 3, 2023.

According to the chief minister camp office around 4000 sports persons from 200 universiti­es from across countries are taking in these competitio­ns and they will be felicitate­d with

ODOP kits of respective districts.

In Gorakhpur, terracotta articles will be presented to players and coaches. District sports officer Ali Haider said one dozen teams from different universiti­es reached here on Thursday.

Talking with media persons, Prashant from Nasik in Maharashtr­a appreciate­d that a good diet is being provided to them. The members of his team were enthused that they would get a chance to see the Gorakhnath temple and Mahaprinir­van temple of Lord Buddha at Kushinagar.

The district authoritie­s have made elaborate arrangemen­ts to make the event memorable. Passes have been issued to make entry from the separate gate and traffic movement around Ramgarh Lake would be restricted. A live stream of the opening session will be made available at the water sports complex.
