ALAM SAID IN THE RECENT CIVIC ELECTIONS IN WESTERN UP , MUSLIMS VOTED AGAINST THE SP. THE SP WOULD COME TO AN END AFTER 2024, HE ADDED.

VARANASI : Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee minority wing chief Shahnawaz Alam said here on Tuesday that Muslims had now taken a pledge to make Rahul Gandhi the next Prime Minister by supporting the Congress along with other sections. As Muslims came out in favour of the Congress in 2024, the Samajwadi Party would come to an end, he said.

Addressing a press conference at Maidagin Congress office, Alam said that in the recent civic elections in western Uttar Pradesh, Muslims voted against the SP. The SP would come to an end after the Muslims came in favour of the Congress in 2024.

Alam said that the Muslims had understood that till the time they voted for the Congress, the BJP had only two MPs. Ever since the Muslims started supporting the SP and BSP, the BJP became stronger. Today the BJP was in power only because of SP and BSP, Alam claimed.

Alam said that the SP’s strategy had been to have BJP government at the centre so that Muslims kept voting for the SP in assembly elections due to fear. Under this strategy, in 2019, Mulayam Singh Yadav had said that he wanted to see Modi become the Prime Minister again in order to transfer the votes of his caste supporters to the BJP. As a result, even after alliance with the BSP and RLD, the SP won Muslim majority seats like Moradabad, Amroha, Sambhal, Saharanpur and Bijnor, while it lost ethnically dominated seats like Badaun and Kannauj. He also assured the weavers to run a movement regarding their demand of flat electricity.
