G20 delegates to take part in Ganga Aarti
HARIDWAR: During the G-20 Working Group meeting on infrastructure in Uttarakhand’s Rishikesh, to be held during June 27 to 28, participating foreign delegates will be attending Ganga Aarti, said people familiar with the matter.
Last month, the G-20 Working Group meeting was held Swargashram, Pauri and Narendranagar. To make the meeting special for approximately 200 participating delegates, a special grand Ganga Aarti event will be organised at Triveni Ganga ghat, said the people.
Confirming the development, Rishikesh municipal corporation mayor Anita Mamgain said it is a historic occasion for host city Rishikesh as G-20 member nations delegates will be attending the infrastructure working group meeting in the pilgrim city.
“Earlier, similar G-20 meetings were held successfully at Narendranagar, Swargashram and for the June 26-28 meeting we assure best of arrangements, facilities and memorable visiting experience for the delegates as well as local people. The entire city will be decked up and wall graffiti and paintings in sync with G-20 working group theme and local state culture will be put up,” said mayor Mamgain.
The mayor said that she already has held a meeting slated with administrative, civic, police, public, trader representatives, social activists, eminent citizens, in this regard.
“Within a fortnight all preparations will be done and Rishikesh will look an altogether different city. From sanitation, cleanliness and renovation aspects, everything will be addressed. As sacred Ganga is almost linked with city of Rishikesh, giving a live experience to delegates of the Ganga Aarti will make it more memorable,” added the mayor.
Also Rishikesh and neighbouring city of Haridwar are hub of Sanskrit education so signages in Sanskrit will reflect the importance of the ancient language, said the people. Former Uttarakhand Sanskrit University vice chancellor, professor, Mahavir
Aggarwal said that Sanskrit is regarded as mother of all languages and it will be befitting if during forthcoming G-20 meeting, the signages and hoardings depict information in Sanskrit language.
