DEHRADUN: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday alleged that the previous Congress-led government used the money, which were meant for temples, on conversions and construction of madrasas, but under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the temples are being renovated and beautified in the country.

While addressing an election rally in Srinagar in Pauri Garhwal district in favour of the party candidate Anil Baluni from Garhwal Lok Sabha seat, Yogi Adityanath said he is very happy to come to the Lok Sabha seat where he was born.

He said, “Whenever I come to this Devbhoomi, I feel spiritual, it is like a moment of self-realisation for me.” Yogi Adityanath was born in 1972 in Panchur village of Pauri Garhwal district. He left his home early in his life and became a disciple of Mahant Avaidyanath, the then chief of the Gorakhnath Math.

While accusing the Congress of using money that was meant for temples, in the construction of madrasas and conversions, he said, “Under PM Modi, temples are being restored and renovated. Kedarnath Dham and Badrinath Dham development projects are examples of this. Ayodhya has seen a total makeover in the last five to six years. You will feel you have arrived in Treta Yug. Every day one to oneand-a-half lakh pilgrims visit Ayodhya temple.”

The UP CM said Congress, which had earlier questioned the existence of Lord Ram, is now saying Ram Sab Ke Hai (Lord Ram belongs to all). “They played with religious sentiments, with security and with the aspirations of youth and poor. They based their schemes on faces. They said Muslims have the first right on the resourthe ces of the country. Then why was India partitioned? Why didn’t anyone ask Congress where will Indian citizens go? In 2014, PM Modiji came and said schemes will not be based on some faces, castes or communities, but they will based on the principle Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas”, he sad

Talking about the party manifesto released on Sunday, Yogi Adityanath said Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Sankalp Patra talks about making India self-reliant and a developed nation by 2047. “Its focus is on women, poor, farmers and youth. All BJP workers and leaders should read it and take it among the people,” he said. He said the manifesto has made it further clear that it is now ‘Nation First’ as against ‘Family First’. “On one side is a selfish family and on the other side is Modi Parivar (Modi family). In UP, we have decided to ensure victory in all 80 seats and similarly here, people will ensure victory in all five seats. In Devbhoomi, the blessings are with the righteous people and not with Rakshasi people (demons in Hindu mythology),” he said.

Talking about the changes under PM Modi, Yogi Adityanath said, “I have gone to Madhya Pradesh five times from Gorakhpur. During Congress rule, I would wonder where they want to take the country, there is nothing in their national agenda, nothing for women, youth, poor, and farmers. With their selfishness, they were taking the country towards disintegration. I have seen India changing in the last 10 years, and the world knows about it and respects Indians whenever they go anywhere.”

Under Congress-led government, 150 districts in the country were in the grip of maoism and now they are limited to only three or four districts, he said while adding that even the country’s borders are safe under PM Modi’s rule.

Yogi Adityanath said the situation has changed in Kashmir and the north-east, where people are feeling proud to be part of the mainstream and they are

trust in PM Modi’s guarantees.

Referring to poor connectivity in Uttarakhand earlier, where has spent his childhood, Yogi Adityanath said road, rail and air connectivity has been improved significantly under BJP rule. “Earlier it used to take 14 to 15 hours to reach Kedarnath, Badrinath, now you can reach there in an hour or so in a chopper. Similarly, infrastructure across the state has been improved. Institutions like AIIMS and IIMs are being set up in the state,” he said.

The UP chief minister said that some people are mistaken that with strict action against criminals and mafia in UP, they will cross borders and enter Uttarakhand. “I want to tell you that I will not leave them in a condition that they can cross borders and enter here.”

Reacting to the remarks of Yogi Adityanath, Congress state vice president Mathura Dutt Joshi said it is sad that the UP CM, who was born here, is making such baseless and provocative statements. “He is aware of the ground reality in the state, as he was born here, but he also, like PM Modi, didn’t talk about the pressing issues that the state is facing like unemployment, hill migration and so on. They are just attacking Congress to divert the attention of the people from real issues,” he said.
