BHU scholar presents paper at AmSECT
VARANASI : Akhalesh Sureshchand Maurya, a Ph.D. scholar from the department of cardiothoracic and vascular surgery of Institute of Medical Sciences under Banaras Hindu University, gave a presentation on Retrograde Autologous Filtration (RAF), at the 62nd AmSECT (American Society of Extracorporeal Technology) International Conference, organised in New Orleans, US on March 24. Participants from various countries took part in this conference, and Akhalesh was the only participant from India.
Advocate scripts own kidnapping, caught
VARANASI : Police here are mulling legal action against an advocate who scripted his kidnapping to avoid clearing installments against loans he took from multiple banks. Police had been looking for advocate Surendra Kumar Patel, a resident of Lakhanpur area under Manduadih police station area in Varanasi, since March 27 and were suspecting that he had been kidnapped. During the investigation, additional deputy commissioner of police (Crime) Saravanan T-led team discovered that Patel had bought a used phone a week prior and installed a new SIM card in it. His old phone number remained switched off. Till April 14, he was in Mumbai, and, after that, he came to Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh. He was traced and detained by another police team from near Prayagraj Railway Station, said Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (crime), T Sarvanan. Patel confessed to having taken multiple loans and scripted his kidnapping to avoid paying the banks. Legal action would be taken against him, said police.
