PRAYAGRAJ : Exactly a year after the murders of Atiq Ahmed and his brother Khalid Azim alias Ashraf, the Prayagraj police have now opened the history sheets of Atiq’s jailed sons Ali and Umar.

To keep an eye on their activities, the police is preparing their records and like their father, Ali and Umar will also be considered as criminals in police records.

The police have listed Mohammed Umar and Ali Ahmed alias Ali as history sheeters under the B category, on numbers 48B and 57B respectively, informed deputy commissioner of police (DCP) city Deepak Bhukar on Tuesday.

Atiq and Ashraf were listed as notorious leaders of a criminal gang and were A category history sheeters, he added.

As per police records, there were no chances of Atiq and Ashraf’s reforming themselves and therefore were kept under A category of history sheeters to keep an eye on their activities for lifetime.

However, his sons Ali and Umar have been put under B category as there are still chances that they may reform themselves. However, they will also be shifted to A category of history sheeters if they continue committing crimes, police officials said.

The police keep an eye on activities of history sheeters under A category until they are dead. Meanwhile, they take regular updates regarding their criminal activities and movements if they are out on bail. The history sheeters under A category are considered notorious, officials added.

Atiq Ahmed had 102 cases against him while Ashraf had 58 cases registered against him at different police stations of the state. Their history sheet was opened by police during Bahujan Samaj Paty (BSP) regime to keep an eye on their criminal activities.

Among Atiq’s five sons, the third Asad was killed in an encounter with police team in Jhansi on April 13.

His eldest son Umar is lodged at Lucknow Jail in connection with abduction and assault on a Lucknow-based realtor Mohit Jaiswal, while Ali is lodged at Naini Jail for assault and demanding extortion from property dealer Zeeshan aka Janu.

Ali has 11 cases of assault, demanding extortion etc lodged at Puramufti, Kareli, Dhumanganj and Khuldabad police stations of Prayagraj while Umar also has four cases against him.

Umar was wanted by CBI and has surrendered before the CBI court in 2022 and Ali also surrendered before the sessions court in the same year.

Cancel Khan Saulat’s registration: Jaya Pal’s letter to Bar Council Murdered lawyer Umesh Pal’s wife Jaya Pal has sent a letter to Bar Council of Uttar Pradesh demanding cancellation of registration of Atiq’s convicted lawyer Khan Saulat Hanif.

In the letter sent to Bar Council’s secretary and president, Jaya said that Khan Saulat has been sentenced life term in Umesh Pal’s abduction case and his registration should be cancelled as per rules.

She said that Khan Saulat was working for Atiq’s gang on the pretext of being a lawyer. Besides the cancellation of his registration, all facilities to him should be stopped and his entry in court premises should also be banned.
