Familiar faces, fiesta mark AU’s inaugural alumni meet
PRAYAGRAJ : The inaugural alumni meet of Allahabad University (AU), titled the ‘Familiar Faces Fiesta,’ kicked off on Saturday. Former students from across the country and abroad who graduated before 1996 attended the meet, including a former Chief Justice of India (CJI), four sitting Supreme Court (SC) judges, and five former SC judges. The event also saw participation from both current and former high court judges.
AU chancellor Ashish Kumar Chauhan, vice-chancellor Prof Sangita Srivastava, president of the University of Allahabad Alumni Association Prof Heramb Chaturvedi, and secretary Prof Kumar Birendra officially inaugurated the two-day event by lighting the ceremonial lamp.
During the inaugural session, former CJI Justice VN Khare shared his experiences at AU. SC judge Justice Vikram Nath reminisced about biking across the city during his student days, urging everyone to appreciate the university’s rich history, especially the science faculty.

Krishna Murari credited the university with shaping his education, knowledge, and personality. He noted that the institution played a significant role in giving direction to his life. SC judge Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia also shared his university experiences, while Justice Pankaj Mittal praised the teaching quality, noting that the instructors were so thorough that students rarely needed textbooks for exams.
Renowned film director Tigmanshu Dhulia said that his time at AU was instrumental in his success in the film industry.

ing that featured a diverse array of entertainment, including bhajans, tabla and sitar performances, folk music, Russian songs, western classics, poems, and ghazals.
