Senior lawyer receives threat, extortion call
PRAYAGRAJ: Additional government counsel Acharya Rajesh Tripathi received extortion threat on WhatsApp, with an unidentified caller telling him to pay up Rs 1 lakh and withdraw from an ongoing case being handled by him. SHO of Georgetown police station Rajiv Kumar Srivastava said an FIR has been registered and investigations were underway on the basis of the mobile number from which the threat and extortion demand was made.Tripathi told the police that he received a WhatsApp call through which an unidentified caller asked him to drop a case and to pay up Rs 1 lakh on a mobile number that was subsequently sent to him.Tripathi also said he was warned against approaching the police.
School children have a narrow escape as bus steering fails PRAYAGRAJ: Twenty school children travelling in a bus had a narrow escape when the steering of the vehicle failed under Utraon police station. As a result, the bus diverted from the road and entered the fields and where the vehicle somehow stopped. All 20 students were residents of Babuganj Aata village and were on way to school in Patel Nagar area of Jhunsi when the bus steering failed near Khudaipur village as the driver lost control on the vehicle which ran in an uncontrolled manner for sometime.
ISARC workshop VARANASI : The South Asia Regional Centre (ISARC) of International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) convened a workshop marking the initiation of a transformative project aimed at revolutionising agriculture in India. The workshop, titled “Technological Innovations in Agriculture for Increased Food Security and Income: A Capacity Development Initiative with Women Farmers (and Scientists) of Rice-Based Agri-Food Systems in India,” brought together key stakeholders from across the country.
