Former Rajya Sabha MP accuses employee of theft
NEW DELHI: Former Rajya Sabha MP Wasim Ahmad on Sunday filed a police case against his domestic help, accusing him of allegedly committing a theft at his south Delhi flat and stealing expensive items .
An FIR was registered at the Sunlight Colony police station against Mohammad Yamin, who was employed by Ahmad as a caretaker of his Sidharth Extension home in 1995.
Ahmad, who was MP in the upper house between 1990 and 1996, said the stolen items include his more than 500 photographs, some of them with former prime ministers and foreign dignitaries, five Pashmina shawls worth over ₹5 lakh, carpets gifted to him by former prime minister VP Singh, 100 expensive branded pens, Rolex wristwatch, souvenirs, among other items.
“The theft was detected when I visited my Delhi home on February 20 and found it locked and Yamin missing. I opened the flat using duplicate keys and found the items missing. Yamin must have conspired with somebody to commit this crime,” said Ahmad.
Chinmoy Biswal, deputy commissioner of police (southeast), said, “We have registered a case and looking for the caretaker. His interrogation would help us recover the stolen items.”
