Civil services aspirant found dead in house, suicide suspected
NEWDELHI:A 31-year-old civil services aspirant allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at a flat in south Delhi’s Ber Sarai on Monday night. Police said the man, identified as Samrat Chauhan, had failed to qualify the Union Public Service Commission civil services preliminary examination in his three back-to-back attempts.
An apparent one-page suicide note addressed to his parents and brothers was recovered from his room in which he said he was upset as he was unable to achieve anything meaningful, police said.
“In his note, Chauhan mentioned that he was taking the extreme step on his own and nobody should be blamed for his death. He has apologised to his parents, saying he could not do anything for them. He also requested his brother to take care of their parents after his death,” said a police officer, quoting the note.
Monika Bhardwaj, additional deputy commissioner of police (southwest), said the police control room received a call regarding a suicide in Ber Sarai on Monday .
