De-stressing and unwinding with breathtaking views and soaking in the architectural heritage, the HT Power Break event organised by Hindustan Times in partnership with India City Walks, took many senior corporate executives back in time with a season special heritage walking tour of Hauz Khas Village. The walk provided them with much-needed respite from their daily grind. The two-hour walk that started at 8am on a Sunday was themed ‘A Walk in the Rain

— Decoding Hauz Khas Village’.

The walk covered Hauz Khas reservoir, a visit to the Madrasa, Firoz Shah Tughlaq’s tomb and the Deer Park and was lead by Nidhi Bansal, co-founder of India City Walks and historian Dr Najaf Haider along with Sachin Bansal, chief explorer. “The aim is to connect people with our rich heritage. Our mantra is to help cityfolks explore Delhi’s soul and showcase its past,” says Sachin Bansal, founder and chief explorer, India City Walks.

From appreciating exquisite calligraphy, enjoying stories of Moroccan wanderer Ibn Battuta and admiring the scenic beauty of Hauz Khas Village to understanding the inscriptions and Quranic verses — the honchos were all eyes and ears at the event.“The walk was really nice. I had a great time along with my wife,” says Srivatsan Rajan, MD, Bain and Company India Pvt. Ltd. Devina Ghildial echoes the same sentiment: “I live in Delhi, and all this while I was not even aware that a lake existed,” says the managing director, South Asia, RICS.

Rakesh Kaul, CEO, Experion, says, “We come here for the restaurants a lot, but never had the chance to understand the historical significance of this village. I am thankful to HT and India City Walks for the event. It was good to get to know so much about it.” From selfies to group pictures, all admired the scenic and historic place. Rakesh Srivastava, senior vice president and division head, marketing and sales division, Hyundai Motor India Limited, was one such photography enthusiast. “I love clicking pictures. The experience of being here was great and I enjoyed it a lot! I am taking back good memories,” he says.

The Project — Park Balluchi came on board as the hospitality partner for the event as well. “It was one mood-lifting exercise that our staff has undergone. It will not be an understatement to mention that the restaurant witnessed a different and fresh mood altogether. The Project in its full bloom offered a healthy spread and a few traditional Park Balluchi offerings,” says Priyank Sukhija, restaurateur and co-owner at The Project.
