My being choosy will not affect anyone: Sobhita
The one thing that Sobhita Dulipala was sure about when she decided to be an actor, was not to disappoint herself. That was why the beauty pageant winnerturned-actor decided to do films that she connected with. And when her first film, the neo-noir thriller Raman Raghav 2.0 (2016) went to the Cannes film festival, she was overwhelmed.
“I was 23 and nobody knew me then, and still people loved my work. It gave me better clarity about the kind of work I would like to associate myself with. Cinema is a medium to tell stories, and these stories both entertain and help us learn something. As an actor, I was very clear that I didn’t want to do anything that would not let me enjoy watching myself… I’m open to anything from masala entertainers to period drama and political satire, but the story needs to be appealing enough. If things are in place then I’d love to do something on the lines of Harry Potter or The Lord of the Rings, too,” says the actor who has been part of films such as Chef (2017) and Kaalakaandi.
Elaborating more on what makes her choose a project, she says, “I don’t think anybody cares about me. So my being choosy won’t affect anyone. Who does not want to be a part of films that reach out to more audience and make money? So when it comes to saying yes to one film among the few that I have in hand, I only trust my instinct,” adds Sobhita, who will next be seen in the film Body opposite Emraan Hashmi.
