KRITI SANON THINKS AS A VIEWER TO CHOOSE FILMS

Actor Kriti Sanon, who wants to explore different genres, has a period drama, a romcom and two comedies in her kitty

For actor Kriti Sanon, who has her hands full with four projects right now — Housefull 4, Panipat, Arjun Patiala and Luka Chuppi — there are various things that draw her to a film.

The actor says, “Sometimes it’s the whole script, sometimes it’s the particular character and sometimes the people who are associated with the film with whom I want to work... These are the reasons that make me say yes or no to a film. So each time, it’s a different thing.”

Kriti feels that more than anything else, it’s important to learn the balancing act. “I don’t like to get stuck in one particular genre. As a viewer, there are days when I really want to go out and watch a comedy to just enjoy a hearty laugh, or watch a nice romantic film, or something more grander. I feel as an actor, too, I want to explore different genres,” she says.

The Bareilly Ki Barfi (2017) actor says that she makes sure that films’ narratives are not similar. “I might not do the same kind of story. Arjun Patiala is a comedy, Housefull 4 is also a comedy; but both are different. My character in the former has a Punjabi flavour. Housefull, on the other hand, has an angle of reincarnation. Luka Chuppi is a small town romcom, with lots of comedy. And Panipat is totally different. It’s my first ever period drama and I’m playing the Maratha princess Parvatibai,” says the actor, who recently did an item song for the horror comedy, Stree.

Meanwhile, there have been reports that Kriti was also considered for filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari’s next. The actor clarifies, “I was never offered the film. I love him, he had written Bareilly Ki Barfi. I am really close to him and [filmmaker] Ashwiny [Iyer Tiwari] and I would love to work with them. I know whatever he will do is going to be fabulous.”
