JAZZ UP YOUR HOME WITH CANDLES

Candles make the most beautiful atmosphere for relaxation and enjoyment. The easiest part of using candles is that you can spice up your regular candles by decorating them. Nitasha Chawla shares some fun ways of doing it

-

From being our saviour during power cuts to being the first choice for setting a romantic mood, candles help us in more ways than one. They help in elevating the mood and relaxing the senses. And no matter where you decide to use candles, they create a warmer, more welcoming environment not only for guests but for yourself too!

You can play around with different candle styles based on the need.... cluster them, use a variety of heights, use different scents or use unscented and get some stylish candle holders. Here are some ways of making decorative candles for your home:

PRESSED FLOWERS CANDLES

Embed flowers and leaves onto a candle by using a dab of adhesive. See to it that the flowers remain flat against the candle and then over-dip it in clear wax. Use flowers of different shapes, sizes, and colours.

LACE CANDLES

Take a mason jar and stick a broad lace to cover it. Use laces of different designs and colours. Keep a candle or few stubs inside it and light it.

FRUIT CANDLES

This is the simplest way to make candles. You just need fruit peels (pick anything... apple, melon, pumpkin) and cut it creatively with zig-zag edges. Then insert a candle into the hollow space and it’s done!

CINNAMON STICK CANDLES

These candles bestow your home with an uncanny charm. Place a rubber band around the candle and then place cinnamon sticks under the rubber band. Wrap the rubber band with a ribbon.

SEASHELLS CANDLE

There’s a way to put your seashell collection to use. All you need to do is pick few shells and give it a stroke of fabric paints. You can either place a candle inside the shell or pour melted the wax into the shell (only after placing a wick, of course).

COLOUR BLOCK CANDLES

If you have a bunch of old crayons on hand and are interested in making some charming colour block candles, then all you need to is melt the crayons, mix them with melted wax and pour it in the a jar of any shape you like.

It’s that easy and as kids love crafts, you can ask them to help you in the process. It’s going to be a fun activity for the kids and at the same time you’ll have a new decor item.
