I have never been exposed to any controversy as such. My parents have always been around and travelled with me, so I had that level of safety. KAJAL AGGARWAL, ACTOR

Actor Kajal Aggarwal, who is gearing up for the release of the Tamil remake of Bollywood film, Queen (2013), has matured as a person, and her perception of film industries has underwent a change.

In a 2013 interview to a daily, she had said that she prefers Telugu film industry over Tamil as women are respected more in the former.

Asked whether that holds true even today, she denies. “That doesn’t hold true. I will say that women are respected equally in both industries. I am trying to think of instances where one would overpower the other. I never really had an issue,” says Kajal, who is also going to act opposite Kamal Haasan in Indian 2.

On whether it’s the #MeToo movement that has changed things for the better, she says, “I have never been exposed to any controversy as such. My parents have always been around and travelled with me, so I had that level of safety.”

Kajal debuted in Bollywood through Kyun! Ho Gaya Na... in 2004.

Feeling blessed to have come across good people so far, she adds, “The (Hindi and south) film industry is a good place, I have genuinely met and worked with good people. I never faced any sort of issues. There’s no difference, therefore, pre or post the entire movement for me.”

However, Kajal is quick to clarify that this doesn’t mean that she wants to demean the entire movement. “My work conditions have always been secure. It’s a personal thing, I am not judging anything,” she signs off.
