I have a problem of being a person of slight substance: Ridhi Dogra on not doing films

- Rishabh Suri

Actor Ridhi Dogra is content with having worked only in television, and not taking the leap in films like many TV stars have. She started her career with the 2007 show Jhoome Jiya Re and since then, she has worked in Woh Apna Sa and Diya Aur Baati Hum.

On not working in films, she says, “I have a big problem of being a person of slight substance (laughs). I don’t want to settle for small roles, and it’s not even about that actually. Sometimes, you can achieve a lot in a small part. Many great actors did small parts when they started. I am not ever worried about that.”

Not knowing someone in the film industry is also one of the reasons, Ridhi says, adding that, “When you don’t know anyone from films, you don’t know how to break in. I will see whatever comes my way. I have got calls for films, (which I didn’t do) and are currently in the process of being released, their trailers are out. I am happy to know that casting directors thought of me. It means I am on the right track. The kind of films I would want to do should be where I get to perform.”

All set to make her short film debut, which will be released soon on a streaming platform, she says that she isn’t in a hurry to try every medium. “I have not put myself on a deadline. There is so much I am doing in my life, I am okay with it. I am not content, but not dissatisfied either,” Ridhi signs off.
