Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan met Delhi Police commissioner Bhim Sen Bassi at the force’s headquarters on Monday, sources said.

Senior police officers refused to share the objective and content of the meeting, held around 12:30 pm at the commissioner’s office. But sources said it was a goodwill gesture on the part of Roshan and his crew, who are currently shooting in the Capital. Security was stepped up in and around the police HQ and senior police officials tried to keep the meeting a secret for as long as possible.

“He and his crew reached the police HQ in an SUV without any fanfare or any intimation to the press,” said a police officer.

“It was nothing but a courtesy call with the actor and his crew trying to get a sense of life in the Capital from the commissioner who happens to be a local Delhi boy himself before becoming a police officer,” the officer added.

Though the police insisted that the meeting was basically a prolonged courtesy call, sources said the objective of the meeting had been the discussion of the law and order situation that had unfolded when Roshan and his crew were shooting in east Delhi on Sunday.

Roshan had allegedly been mobbed by fans. “We understand that Roshan expressed some concerns about yesterday’s episode and has sought the commissioner’s cooperation in seeking security to prevent a repeat of what happened yesterday,” said another official.
