-

With the reputation of solving high-profile cases in a jiffy, the Delhi police are now investigating a case of theft in which a pair of shoes was stolen from outside a temple in south Delhi’s Kalkaji.

Police sources said that an FIR in connection with the theft of the shoes had been registered at the Kalkaji police station.

The incident took place on Sunday, when Anshul Gupta, was on a visit to the temple along with his family. In his complaint, Gupta said that while he had paid the shoe attendant to keep a watch on his newly purchased shoes, his shoes were missing when he returned from the temple. “We had paid a man to keep our shoes while we performed prayers for a newborn child in the family. The entire family had submitted their footwear but only mine went missing from the lot,” Gupta said in his complaint.

According to the police, after the theft, Gupta alerted the PCR and an FIR was registered based on his complaint. “While stacking his shoes, Gupta had the presence of mind to click a picture of the attendant along with all the shoes. Gupta has also alleged that he had personally told the attendant to keep a close watch on the shoes since they were new. Gupta suspects that the attendant stole his new shoes,” said a police official.

Sources said that the police had detained two people in connection with the case.
