Tribals, kids in Dantewada to share ‘mann ki baat’ with Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with children and youth from tribal communities during his upcoming trip to strife- torn Dantewada on Saturday.
Modi, the first Prime Minister to visit Dantewada since Chhattisgarh was carved out of Madhya Pradesh in November 2000, will look into the functioning of an educational hub — Education City — created by the state government in 2010.
Tribal students from the Maoist zone will share their hopes, aspirations and dreams during an interaction with the PM in an auditorium, Education City officials said. He will later meet the youths from the Livelihood college which imparts skill-based education and training.
“We hope his visit will widen the scope of development initiatives and strengthen the path of growth in Bastar,” chief minister Raman Singh said.
The PM will attend the MoUs signing of two mega infrastructure projects, with a total investment of around ` 24,000 crore.
These include the setting up of a mega steel plant at Dilmili village and the extension of the Rowghat-Jagdalpur 140 km rail- way line.
ADG (anti-Maoist operation), RK Vij said PM Modi would stay for 2.25 hours in Dantewada. Official sources said unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) would be employed for aerial surveillance. Modi will also address a public rally before leaving for Raipur.
The outlawed CPI (Maoist) had called for a boycott of the visit.
“The signing of MoUs is an attempt to sell the natural resources of the state to big corporate companies. People should take all sorts of protest demonstrations”, said Gudsa Usendi, spokesperson of Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee.
