Residents of South City-2 and Suncity to protest on Saturday
The residents of Suncity Township and South City- 2 will stage a demonstration on Saturday to protest against poor maintenance and incomplete infrastructure by the developer.
The residents of Suncity Township will protest against the non- compliance of the license conditions as per the bilateral agreement while the residents of South City-2 will protest the poor maintenance by the developer.
“Up gradation of utilities like roads, power and sewer is the main agenda of our protest. The infrastructural services that were to be provided by the developer as per the bilateral agreement signed on June 26, 2008 are yet to be fulfilled. The roads are in a poor condition and the sewer is overflowing,” said Abhey Poonia, resident, Suncity Township.
T h e e s t at e m a n a g e r o f Suncity Township, Harinder Yadav denied the claims. “We have the lowest maintenance charges and try our best to keep up with our infrastructure. There are some residents who have not paid the maintenance charges,” he said.
SC Sharma, president, South City- 2 RWA said, “There are 2500 families suffering due to the negligent behaviour of the developer. Even the parks are not maintained.” The residents said that they may seek intervention of the police, if required.
However, the Unitech spokesperson said, “The charges for common area maintenance are being increased only after 11 years. The new maintenance charge has been calculated based on current input costs and manpower requirement specified by the RWA. Each resident has been provided with a cost break-up of the maintenance charge.”
He added, “Meanwhile the company is also in the process of enhancing the manpower as desired by the residents , but the fact that around ` 3.5 crore due on maintenance charge still remains unpaid by residents makes it extremely difficult to ramp up manpower to desired levels.”
