THE POLICE SAID THE ARGUMENT BROKE OUT BETWEEN THE TWO PARTIES OVER THE ISSUE OF CHANGING THE GLASSES AT THE TEMPLE

An Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from south Delhi’s RK Puram, Pramila Tokas, has filed an FIR at the Vasant Vihar police station accusing a Munirka resident of allegedly threatening, abusing and outraging her modesty at a local temple on Friday.

In her complaint, the MLA also accused Narendra Tokas of wrongful restraint and entering into a physical argument with her husband while they were returning home after attending a religious gathering at Baba Gangnath Temple in Munirka.

Narendra Tokas has also filed a complaint against Pramila’s husband Dheeraj Tokas and accused him and his aides of threatening and physically abusing him. On his complaint, an FIR was registered against Dheeraj and his aides.

Two more FIRs were registered in connection with the same issue when the PCR received a call about firing at the temple on Friday night, with both parties accusing each other.

While the third FIR was registered in connection with the firing incident, the fourth was related to the theft of a digital video recorder of CCTV cameras installed at the temple. Police were looking for clues about the unknown persons who had fired at the temple when they found that the CCTV cameras’ DVR was missing from the temple.

Speaking to HT, AAP MLA’s husband Dheeraj said they had gone to attend the religious gathering at the temple at around 7.30am on Friday. While the MLA was walking towards her car, Narendra allegedly blocked her way and hurled abuses at her.

“When she objected to his indecent behaviour, Narendra took out a pistol and began threatening her. When I intervened into the matter, he entered into a scuffle with me,” said Dheeraj accusing Narendra of making several attempts in the past to garb the temple’s property.

The police, on the other hand, said the argument broke out between the two parties over the issue of changing drinking water glasses at the temple. Narendra was arguing with the temple’s priest to change the glasses when the AAP MLA and her husband interfered taking the priest’s side.

“A few hours after the AAP MLA filed an FIR against Narendra, Narendra too filed his complaint and alleged that her husband, Chattar Singh and Shibban Pehelwan, abused him, threatened him and stopped his way. They tore off his shirt in the argument,” said a police officer.

In the evening, firing took place at the temple where the police found a cartridge and a bullet shell. Eyewitnesses said it was Pehalwan’s son who shot twice in the air. One of them even made a video in his mobile phone and later provided it to the cops. Dheeraj has denied association with Pehalwan or his son..
