Soon, monitor development online
NEW DELHI: Residents will soon be able to monitor the progress of development work in their locality on a real-time basis as well as send feedback and complaints to supervisory authorities.
This will be made possible by the upcoming website of the District Urban Development Agency (DUDA) -- the nodal agency created in all 11 revenue districts to execute and monitor developmental projects, especially those recommended by citizens under the Swaraj fund and those proposed by legislators through their MLA local area development funds, officials said.
Senior revenue department officials said the online platform would be interactive, and residents would be able to post feedbacks and complaints backed with evidence such as photographs and suggestions.
“The software is at its testing stage. We are hopeful of launching the website soon,” a senior official said.
According to plans, all details starting from submission of the project to the progress report of all development works being undertaken under the MLALAD and Swaraj fund and those in unauthorised colonies will be updated online.
“The progress report will have pictorial evidence and other related data. The public will be able to access the information. If they find any mismatch in the progress report with that on the ground, they will able to post their feedback with evidence,” an official said.
Officials said if any complaint was found have prima facie merit, supervisory officers would cross check the information and take action. “The citizens concerned would be contacted personally to take action,” an official said.
The DUDA will be formed in each district and headed by the district magistrate. Officials claim the agency will end the confusion of multiplicity of several government agencies working in an area. The government was earlier planning to appoint a dedicated work force under DUDA, but the projects would now be allotted to civic agencies such as the PWD, and DJB, etc.
