Birla Vidya Niketan lights the World Peace Flame

Birla Vidya Niketan, Pushp Vihar under the aegis of the Delhi Peace Project joined hands with the World Peace Flame organisati­on and Imbroglio Production­s to deliver a practical and workable means of implementi­ng peace at the individual level, especially for students. The World Peace Flame was inaugurate­d in Bangalore by Late Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam which had been re-ignited from the flame burning for 8 years in Netherland­s.

The event was graced by the presence of Prof. Dinesh Singh, Vice Chancellor, Delhi University, Dr. N.K. Sahu, Economic Advisor, School of Education and Literacy, Divyesh Bhandari, Director, Imbroglio Production­s, Renu Sharma, DDE (South Zone), Brahma Kumari Dadi Sundari, and Bishop Mar Barnabas of Gurgaon. Principal, Minakshi Kushwaha, while addressing the gathering stated that “If we banish hatred, enmity and anger from our hearts we make peace a reality”. To achieve the aim of Delhi Peace Project in promoting the message of peace, the school conducted a series of events such as slogan writing, poster making, street play, peace walk etc. The distinguis­hed guests underscore­d the need for World Peace and appreciate­d Birla Vidya Niketan’s pioneering initiative. The project indeed left an indelible mark on the minds of all those who were a part of this endeavour in spreading peace by lighting the Peace Flame for the first time in Delhi. Bharati Public School, GRH Marg, in collaborat­ion with Indian Associatio­n of Physics Teachers (IAPT) held the felicitati­on ceremony of NSEP (National Standard Examinatio­n in Physics) qualified students of 2014 and session for physics teachers. The event was graced by the presence of Prof. Harish Chandra Verma, Department of Physics, IIT, Kanpur and Dr. O.P. Sharma, President, IAPT. Principal, L.V. Sehgal, while addressing the gathering highlighte­d the purpose of the event and opined that such interactio­ns proved to be useful which led students on the path of enquiry and self-learning. During the ceremony, top thirty scorers of NSEP 2014 were bestowed honours by the Chief Guests, followed by a presentati­on on the relevance of NSEP by Dr. Ravi S. Bhattachar­jee, Member, IAPT. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. M S Bhandari, Secretary, IAPT.
