THE EVENT IS LIKELY TO CAUSE TRAFFIC SNARLS AROUND EAST AND CENTRAL DELHI WITH OVER 35 LAKH PEOPLE EXPECTED TO ATTEND

NEW DELHI: Expecting heavy traffic jams during the three-day World Culture Festival organised by the Art of Living on the Yamuna banks, commuters are bombarding the traffic police helpline with queries.

The helpline is getting 24 to 25 calls every day to enquire about the likely traffic situation during the three-day culture festival.

The March 11-13 event is likely to cause long traffic snarls around east and central Delhi with over 35 lakh people expected to attend the event. Commuters are asking for every detail.

“Ever since the event was announced in the last week of February, we have been getting calls from commuters who want to know how traffic will be affected. We still do not have a clear idea how many people will participate in the event but there have been a lot of projections of it being the biggest event in terms of numbers,” said a traffic official.

Officials assisting callers have created a template for every call. The team is considering recording information and playing it for all queries related to the traffic situation during the event.

“We have asked the radio team to record a message with all details. It is likely that the attendants might miss out on certain details that would be important for commuters to decide their routes. A traffic advisory is being prepared we will work this out,” the official said.
