NEW DELHI: “Raise your voice, we are one.” JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar started his address to students in the JNU campus after his release on bail-with this slogan. He accused the Narendra Modi government of trying to suppress JNU’s voice to hide its failures to fulfill its poll promises.

Returning to campus three weeks after his arrest, the student leader on Thursday hurled barb sat Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“They had made promises of bringing black money, reducing black money and of sab ka sath sabka vikas. But they want us to forget these jumlas. We will not let people forget it,” he said to a crowd of over two thousand students.

“You are running JNU on prime time because you want people to forget that PM had promises that people will get 15 lakh in their account,” he said.

Kanhaiya said that JNU will not relent and continue its struggle against RSS.

“The more you suppress us we will stand up more. Its a long fight. We will continue fight without bowing down. We will fight against RSS and BJP. We have created history we will create history. We will fight. We will win,” he said.

Kumar, 29, slapped with sedition charge for allegedly raising anti-national slogans, said he had many differences with the PM but he agreed with his tweet “Satyameva Jayate” which he had posted in praise of HRD minister Smriti Irani’s fiery speech in Lok Sabha on the JNU row as it is in the Constitution.

His passionate speech was punctuated by repeated cheers and raising of slogans. “We are not seeking ‘azaadi’ (freedom) from India. We want ‘azaadi’ within India,” he said. Thanking all who stood by him while he was in Tihar jail here, Kumar said he believed in the Constitution.

More than 2,000 students gathered around the administrative block, where Kumar was scheduled to address them ahead of a victory march.

But the leader did not participate in the march. After reaching the campus, Kumar spoke to a news channel and said he was ready for a long fight. JNUSU vicepresident Shehla Rashid Shora said, “This is a moment of great relief for all of us. We are happy that now our president will join us and lead the struggle.”

I have many differences with the PM but I agree with his tweet Satyameva Jayate because these words are in our Constitution.
