Bodies of wife, daughters of BSP leader found
NEW DELHI A day after they dug out the skeletal remains of the two sons of murdered BSP leader Chaudhary Munawwar Hassan, the Delhi Police on Tuesday recovered the bodies of his wife and two daughters buried in a pit in Daurala village near Meerut.
Hassan was found dead at his house in Burari on Saturday. Hassan was lodge in Tihar Jail in connection with a rape case. He was released on May on bail on May 17. He had been told that his wife and four children had not been seen since April 20.
The main accused, Sahid Khan alias Bunty, was arrested on Monday for murdering Hassan and his family members.
Bunty told the police that in the “second half of April” he took Hassan’s wife Ishrat, 40, and two daughters—Arju, 19, and Arshi, 15 — to Saharanpur on the pretext of introducing them to his relative. “He took them to Saharanpur to meet his relative. On his way back to Delhi, he told them that two of his friends would join them. After they joined them, they took the three women to Daurala village in Meerut. Bunty dragged Hassan’s wife and daughters out of the car with the help of the two men and shot them dead,” a police officer said.
“To dispose off the bodies, they dug up a pit and threw the three bodies inside, one above the other. They covered the pit with mud and bricks and fled,” he said.
When Hassan’s sons— Aaquib, 20 and Shakib, 16 — inquired about their mother and sisters, Bunty told them that they were staying with him and asked them to come over. When Hassan’s sons reached his house, they were gagged and tied.
“He did not strangle them the same day. They were gagged, tied with ropes and thrown in a room. They were not given any water or food for more than 24 hours, after which they were strangled,” an investigator told HT. “After killing the two, he buried them in one of the few disputed properties of Hassan, situated on walking distance from his house,” he said.
So far, the police have arrested Bunty, two suspected contract killers –Feroz and Zulfiqar—and their friend, Deepak. The police are hunting for two more suspects in the sensational murders.
“We have exhumed five dead bodies till now. Bodies of Hassan’s wife Ishrat, 40 and two daughters—Arju, 19 and Arshi, 15 were exhumed from Meerut on Tuesday and have been sent them for a postmortem. The exhumation took place in the presence of forensic experts and the respective SDMs in Burari and Meerut. We are on the lookout for other accused,” DCP north, Jatin Narwal said.
Investigators have said that Hassan and Bunty were partners in a real estate business, dealing in property in outer and north Delhi. The 42-year-old Hassan, a local strongman and a Bahujan Samaj Party leader, owned a number of properties which he had allegedly grabbed from several people, including Bunty.
Bunty was waiting to take revenge on Hassan and the opportunity presented itself when Hassan was arrested on charges of rape on January 19. Khan came close to his family during this period and killed them.
