NEW DELHI: Father of the 23-yearold man who was found hanging at his female friend’s flat in southwest Delhi’s Dwarka on Tuesday, demanded on Friday that a case of murder be registered.

Arnav Duggal, who worked at a hotel chain, reportedly went to his female friend’s house for a stay over and was found hanging the next morning. The girl lives with her parents, but was alone on home the day of the incident.

No suicide note was recovered. According to the police, Arnav was in love with the woman and was forcing her to be in a relationship with him, but she had turned down the proposal.

“It is impossible for my son to have committed suicide. He was an independent, confident man. I refuse to believe that he killed himself because he was rejected by a girl,” said Alok Duggal, Arnav’s father, who met Delhi Police commissioner Amulya Patnaik on Thursday, requesting a thorough investigation in the case.

However, police said it seemed to be a case of suicide. “A medical board was constituted to give its opinion . The FSL team too visited the spot. The investigation is on,” said Surendra Kumar, DCP (south-west).

Arnav reportedly dropped the woman at her home after a party, and requested to stay back as he was feeling sick. The woman agreed. She woke up at around 4 am to answer her father’s call. When she went to check on Arnav, he was found hanging.
