Man sent to jail for sexually assaulting minor
NEW DELHI: A man was handed down two-year imprisonment for sexually assaulting a seven-yearold girl at her house when her parents were away at work.
The incident took place in October, 2012 in south east Delhi’s Sangam Vihar. The accused, 40-year-old Naim was the girl’s neighbour.
While pronouncing the judgment, the court observed that the accused was correctly identified by the girl and her testimony is unimpeachable.
When the girl was asked a few questions with regard to her mental capability of understanding the questions put to her, she had pointed her fingers at the accused and said that he had removed her clothes and touched her private parts, the court noted.
“The deposition of the child victim is sufficient in itself to bring home the guilt of the accused. In the present case the accused has sexually assaulted a child of tender age which is one of the most heinous crime and an appalling violation of her trust and innocence,” said the court.
According to the prosecution, the accused came to the house of the victim, locked the door from inside, and sexually assaulted her. When the accused went out of the house, the girl’s father, who was returning from work, spotted him. The girl narrated the incident to her father, who informed the police.
An FIR was registered at Sangam Vihar police station and Naim was arrested.
