Parties in Delhi have decided to put aside their differences and come together to protest against the Metro fare hike. .

The Congress will start its ‘Stop politics, save Metro’ campaign from Friday to ‘educate people how the ongoing tussle between Delhi and Central government is impacting the Metro’.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Delhi too said that it has decided to make a representation before Union urban development minister Hardeep Singh Puri to seek ‘some relief’ in Metro fare.

“Obviously we are not satisfied with the hike. However, we are helpless as Fare Fixation Committee’s (FFC’s) decision can’t be reversed. We are meeting the urban development minister on Wednesday ,” Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari said.

Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken said their protest will start from Friday and they will ‘expose’ the AAP government. “The Delhi government has no right to protest now because its representatives did not raise objections before FFC,” he said.

On Tuesday morning, activists of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) also held a protest outside the Metro Bhawan over the latest Metro fare hike.

Around 30 ABVP workers also stormed the gates of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) building and a scuffle broke out with policemen. This comes a day after Metro services on Yellow Line were disrupted on Monday morning hours for at least 10 minutes, after four supporters of National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) jumped on the track raising slogans.
